The scale of this project was mind-boggling — a literal moving heaven and earth. It was a standout project for Springpoint, and one I was proud to have played a small part within. It offered many lessons as a designer which have stayed with me, not least the power of what can be accomplished when an outstanding team of people get together.

Few projects are as prestigious as being asked to design a logo for your country - it’s the graphic design equivalent of playing for your nation in the FIFA World Cup. In 2001 we were asked by the British Tourist Authority to create a new identity to help promote tourism across Britain. It is still one of my favourite pieces of work.

The experience of helping to rebrand Lloyd’s of London taught me how to reframe challenges, not as obstacles but as opportunities in disguise.

As a designer, I know how hard creative people work. We are driven by love and obsession, not money; for what we do and the need to create. But this focus can also lead to our experience and work being exploited.
