Designing Chrstmas
Scouring our scrapbooks we’ve found some great ‘designer’ Xmas cards for your inspiration.
You’ve been asked to design the company Christmas card, yet again!
You feel your heart sink and panic rises through your body. You take a few slow, deep breaths. A little more composed you speak up...
****, why me. I did it last year! — Like I’ve got time for this ****.
The poor account handler tasked with handing you this request helpfully suggests...
It’ll be fun! Trust me, you’ll have it done in an hour... Just one thing though... can you make it different?
You respond with typical flair...
What again! **** off!
The Christmas card is one of the jobs every designer dreads, especially those who pride themselves on coming up with ideas. It would be easy if you didn’t care - but unfortunately you’re not built like that. Every year, in an effort to be original and clever, we spend countless hours thinking about this seemingly straightforward task. But how can you be original with something so fundamentally clichéd?
Well, help is at hand! We’ve searched through our scrapbooks and storage boxes and found some personal favourites which will hopefully give you some inspiration. A few images have been pilfered from the pages of the awesome book A Smile in the Mind by Beryl McAlhone and David Stuart. Where the work is uncredited, we apologise and if you know who designed it please let us know so we can update the post.
